Manfred Fischbeck is the Artistic and Executive Director of Group Motion Multi Media Dance Theater. Over the last three decades, Manfred has been a vital force of the Philadelphia arts community, choreographing, composing, performing, teaching and touring with the company locally, nationally, and internationally. His contributions to contemporary dance include innovative work in the areas of multi media and technology, as well as his crucial part in establishing the model collective, Kumquat. He and Group Motion have traveled to Germany, France, England, Cyprus, Argentina, Japan, and Taiwan, most recently being invited to Poland and Lithuania. He serves on the faculty of the University of the Arts as Adjunct Associate Professor in the School of Dance and the School of Theater Arts, and as a lecturer in the Theater Arts Department at The University of Pennsylvania. He has received various grant awards and fellowships, including funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, and numerous foundations. Brigitta Herrmann, dancer, choreographer, artistic director of Ausdruckstanz//Imprints in Motion, co-director of Group Motion Workshop. Herrmann is a native of Germany, where she graduated from the Mary Wigman School of Dance in Berlin. She is co-founder of Gruppe Motion Berlin (1962), and of Group Motion Media Theatre in Philadelphia (1968), serving as co-artistic director, and as executive director, choreographing, touring and teaching until 1989. As co-founder and- director of the Group Motion Workshop, a community based recourse for creative and authentic expression through dance and music improvisation, Brigitta continues her affiliation with Group Motion. For her artistic work, rooted in the expressionist dance, Herrmann received awards, including the National Endowment for the Arts, the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, and Dance Advance, a program of the Philadelphia Center for Arts and Heritage, funded by the Pew Charitable Trusts and administered by The University of the Arts, amongst others. Throughout her career of over forty years, she has performed and taught extensively, traveling throughout the US and in Europe. Brigitta’s ongoing explorations led her to practices of yoga, meditation and studies in personal growth and the healing arts, including: Hands of Light, Body Mind Centering, Live Arts Process, Creative Visualization, Kinetic Awareness, Reiki , Reflexology , Somatic Psychology and Dance Movement Therapy amongst others. Her passion and commitment to awareness practices and healing are reflected in her work. |
