I THINK NOT (2012) – adaptation of Deborah Hay choreography.

Premiered in 2012 at the Christ Church Neighborhood House Theater, Philadelphia.“I think Not” is a solo dance work, featuring Manfred Fischbeck in his adaptation of Deborah Hay’s choreography and direction. The performance is an out come of Deborah Hay’s Solo Performance Commissioning Project in Findhorn, Scotland, August 2011

 

SCHWARZER TOD AND THE USELESS EATERS (2011)

Premiered in 2011 at the Meetinghouse Theater, Philadelphia
Based on the book of photographs and poetry by Quintan Ana Wikswo.
Choreography by Manfred Fischbeck
Original electronic music by Andrea Clearfield.
Text and video by Quintan Ana Wikswo.

The piece offers a haunting fairytale of innocence amidst genocide in medieval Germany. “Schwarzer Tod “ is a memento to all children persecuted and killed in genocides around the world in past and present.

 

LUNG-TA (THE WINDHORSE) (2010)

Lung Ta ( Wind Horse)A Multi Media Dance Theater Work featuring six dancers of the Group Motion Company, choreography by Manfred Fischbeck, music for chamber ensemble and traditional Tibetan instruments by Andrea Clearfield, visuals by Maureen Drdak. “Lung-Ta” is inspired by Tibetan art and music and the concept of the ‘Windhorse’ or ‘Prayerflag.’ This collaboration was commissioned by Network for New Music.” Lung-Ta” understands itself as a prayer for global piece.

CHINNAMASTA – THE PARTS AND THE WHOLE

Premiered in 2010 at the Mandell Theater, Philadelphia
A Group Motion Multi Media Dance Theater Work featuring seven dancers of the Group Motion Dance Company. Choreography by Manfred Fischbeck, and electronic music by Andrea Clearfield. Live music by Tim Motzer (guitar), Thomas Wave (sitar) and Manfred Fischbeck (keyboard), a video installation by John Luna and text by Jaamil Kosoko

“The Parts and the Whole” is a performance ritual about the possibility of integrating conflicting parts of the Self into a Whole. It is inspired by the Hindu goddess ‘Chinnamasta’ and her quest for transcending duality.

Direction of Harmonization is the result of Group Motion’s artistic collaboration with Kenshi Nohmi/Dance Theatre 21 of Tokyo, Japan. It is inspired by Nohmi’s fascination with water from its most placid to its energy-giving power.
Premiered in 2003 at the Painted Bride Arts Center, Philadelphia. Remounted and presented at the Mandell Theater, Philadelphia, in 2011.

A Dance Work featuring seven dancers of Group Motion Dance Company, choreography by Kenshi Nohmi and music by Johann Sebastian Bach (Chaconne, performed and recorded by Gidon Kremer.

With support from Dance Advance of the Pew Center for Arts and Heritage, Group Motion commissioned Kenshi Nohmi from Dance Theater 21, Tokyo, to create this work for the company. It had its premiere at the Live Arts Festival in 2003 and its Japanese premiere at the International Dance Festival Tokyo in 2003.

STRATA – (2001 / 2012)

Premiered in 2001 at the ArtsBank, Philadelphia. Remounted and performed at the Christ Church Neighborhood House Theater, Philadelphia, in 2012.

A Dance Work featuring three dancers of the Group Motion Company, choreography by Carol Brown, New Zealand, music by Phil Von and Jerome Soudan of Von Magnet. “Strata” was commissioned by Group Motion with support from Dance Advance of the Pew Center for Arts and Heritage.

 

THE MAGIC FLUTE, AN UNVEILING (2006) 15 minutes, 5 dancers

This ten minute piece was premiered at The Kimmel Center in January of 2006 as part of Mozart’s 250th Birthday Celebration. The original work with new music and video by Peter Price was the only dance selection on the program.
